Well, I continue to have insane amounts of problems with my internet right now (again coming out to "fix" it, let's see how that goes). Haven't been able to do anything worthwhile lately. Spent one day camping Ulli (didn't pop after 6 hours), did some dynamis, helped my fav BLU Tryxie learn a spell she was missing (Spinal Cleave, was a bitch to learn, took a few pts), and lvled PUP.
For levels 30 and 31 I soloed gobs in Sanctuary of Zi'tah. Didn't really get any interesting pics. The levels were fast because the gobs respawn fast there. Ran into a few link problems because of that, but most of the time didn't have to zone. This even included a botch pull where I accidentally grabbed a dc gob and a dc bat and managed to take them both down. Good times.
From 32 to 33 I went to Korroloka Tunnel and did DC-EM crabs. This was a great level, managed to get some nice xp chains even, like so:
Now at 33 I've made a few changes to my armor, mainly back is now Sarcenet Cape, head has Merc Capt Headgear to macro in for ws or for pting, neck is now Peacock Charm, and body is Linen Doublet+1 (waiting for a Savage Separates to show up in AH for ws swap/pt).
Anyway, really nothing else to report. Oh, Element took down another KB while I was incapicatated internet-wise today. Anyways, grats to Eynix for w.head, Johnnyb for e.legs, Doumoon for behemoth tongue, and I guess Cami for pixie earring.

Valoredge
Well, my Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii has been keeping me pretty busy, but I managed to sneak in enough time to get my PUP to level 30 and pick up the last frame I didn't have, the Valoredge (melee) frame. I soloed to 28 then two pts got me to lvl 30. I also parsed those pts, so let's take a looksy:
Okay so for this pt, I'm obviously on PUP, as is Stupidmonkey. My automaton is set to Sharpshot and his (Kenbishi) is Valoredge. The others are WAR/MNK (Yoshino), NIN/WAR (Fenren), and DRK/WAR (Reys). We were fighting Gob Furriers by the outpost in Yuhtunga Jungle.
Things started poorly because the WHM didn't have Barfira so we ended up wiping. I homepointed, bought her the spell, came back to help Raise, and we picked up pretty quickly. For food, I used Rice Dumplings with charges on both a Vision and Mighty Ring. I didn't really notice what the others used, if anything. These numbers kinda surprised me, I think the other melee just weren't that well-equipped because Calcobrena outparsed the WAR and almost outparsed the DRK alone, not even factoring in my damage. But these are low levels so I guess just equipping well and eating food sets you apart, though the numbers from Calcobrena were somewhat surprising.
On to the lvl 29 to 30 pt. This one was a little bit closer. We were fighting mandies in Yhoator. The other members were SAM/WAR (Stuberger), BRD/WHM (Renion), NIN/WAR (Raesvelg), BLM/WHM (Marcux), and Synn, the same WHM from the last pt. These results were more of what I was expecting. The SAM was well-equipped and ate I think sushi. I ate the same thing and used the same ring, replacing Mighty with Raja's when I hit 30. I still managed to outparse the SAM, which was pretty cool.
Other than that, not much to report. We killed some more jailers and that's about it. I haven't really been playing much. I figure I'd end my post with a look at the various gear setups I use on PUP for both myself and for my automaton:
Weapon: Claws +1
Range: Automator
Ammo: Automaton Oil +1
Head: Empress Hairpin (todo: get Merc Cpt Headgear from conquest points for xp pt/ws headgear)
Neck: Spike Necklace
Earrings: Beetle Earring +1s (Dodge Earrings for soloing)
Body: Mercenary Captain Doublet
Hands: Battle Gloves
Rings: Rajas / Vision Ring
Back: Cotton Cape +1 (todo: get Sarcenet or Midnight Cape when one shows up in AH)
Waist: Silver Obi +1 (not really sure what else to do here, maybe Merc Cpt Belt)
Leg: Martial Slacks
Feet: Savage Gaiters (Air Soleas for soloing, macro Savage for ws)
Range Automaton:
Tension Spring I and II (increases attack)
Scope (increases ranged accuracy)
Shock Absorber (uses Stoneskin)
Armor Plate (increases defense)
Stabilizer I and II (increases accuracy)
Heatsink (reduces overloads from fire maneuvers)
Auto-Repair Kit II (regen when light maneuver is on)
Flashbulb (uses Flash)
Stealth Screen (reduces enmity)
Accelerator II (increases evasion)
For this frame I always have wind and fire maneuver going and as needed will put on earth for stoneskin or otherwise have light on for flash and hp regen.
Solo Automaton (Valoredge Head, Stormwaker Body):
Tension Spring I and II (increases attack)
Shock Absorber (uses Stoneskin)
Armor Plate II
Mana Booster (casts more frequently)
Stabilizer I and II (increases accuracy)
Auto-Repair Kit I (regen while light maneuver is on)
Damage Gauge (casts cures sooner rather than waiting for my hp to get lower)
Flashbulb (casts Flash)
Mana Tank (refresh while dark maneuver is on)
Mana Converter (ghetto Convert)
For this frame I usually have fire, light, and dark maneuvers on at all times, sometimes earth for stoneskin.
There are a few more attachments I'd like, with Attuner (the higher the target's level compared to yours, the higher your automaton's damage) being at the top of the list. But it's almost never in the AH and it's hella expensive so it'll probably have to wait Oh wells. Are you tired of hearing about PUP yet? :(

20 November 2006
Is this thing stuck on repeat? Oh wait, it's FFXI, nevermind...
First of all, happy 20, november day to all you bemani fans. Anyway, this post is gonna look almost the exact same as the last post because I did almost the exact same things the past few days. lolffxi. Though to be fair I haven't played much due to still failing internet connection and the release of DOAX2 and the Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.
PUP has gained a few more levels. I went ahead and used the Stormwaker frame in a pt from 25 to 26 and was pretty pleased with the output. I didn't parse, but I noticed multiple times where Calcobrena's nukes would outdamage the RDM's nukes. I also found my Combos usually outdamaging the other melee wses, even the RNG. All in all a pretty fun pt. I ended up soloing from 26 to 27 in Meriphataud Mountains near the outpost, where the enemies were high EP to high DC. I only had to rest twice the whole time, both due to annoying goblin links. This was killing flies, gobs, and lizards, all of which had the annoying tendency of poisoning me. Luckily Calcobrena's nearly infinite mp kept my hp up. If I come back here for 27 to 28 (though I would prefer to pt and let the Sharpshot's ranged skill catch up) I'll have to either sub whm or just bring a bunch of antidotes to speed things up a bit.
Oh, and lol@me being poisoned and stoned in the ding pic. Anyway, as you can see I pretty much got magic skill up where it belongs. I should be able to easily cap it anytime I solo just from cures alone.
Aside from that, not too much more to talk about. We downed another Fafnir...
Grats to Damita and Johnnyb for their items and to me and Ish for our fire crystals. w00t. I was supposed to help out with some jailer kills in sea after that but my craptacular internet was having none of that. I called up my ISP and after a bit of phonetag got someone on the phone who identified the problem (and yes, it was on their side) and he's going to send someone out today to fix it. It'll be so nice having reliable internet again.

PUP It Up
Well, the main thing I've done for the past two days is xp on PUP. I've done some solo and some in pts. My main goal on Wednesday was to hit both lvl 21 on PUP and also get my automaton's magic skill to level 45. I just got the Stormwaker frame for Calcobrena (my automaton) when I hit level 20 so it was obviously behind on magic. So I dutifully took him out to La Thiene for some solo action. It was a bit slow but I finally hit my goal of level 45 skill so he learned Cure II, which is just amazing for soloing. Things picked up quickly then but much to my surprise I got a party invite even though I wasn't seeking! Never one to turn down an offer like that, I packed up shop and chocoboed to Jeuno.
I was a bit worried when I dc'd for about 10 minutes (lolinternet) but they waited for me. We got there and went to Lower Delkfutt's to xp on gobs. I quickly shot up to lvl 22 before I had to leave for a camp. After that I pted up with my buddies from my social ls (ArcaneGarden) and made it to lvl 24 before I gave up on FFXI due to my insane internet booting me constantly.
Thursday was a pretty exciting day. I woke up and soloed PUP while I worked, managing to solo all the way to level 25. Yes, I know the xp on that kill sucks. I was intentionally killing weaker EPs so Calcobrena had more chances to cast magic.
So here's where I left off on Calcobrena's stats after I hit 25. His magic's pretty high now so I might try the mage frame next time I get into a pt to try to cap it. I usually use Sharpshot frame in pts cause it does MASSIVE DAMAGE and I can keep it stoneskin'd and have it flash the mob easier than the Stormwaker frame.
After my PUP fun it was off to Dragon's Aery for another day of camping Fafnir. We ended up getting the claim today which is always nice. People are starting to get the hang of it a bit but the tanks were a little off at first so hate was a little crazy. I got to end dirt a few times but in the end we pulled off the win. And the results?
lol.... grats to Jroc for his a: hands.
After that I cooked up some dinner and then ArcaneGarden started the third Optical Hats run and I was ready to get some of that action. We ended up getting 4 o.hats tonight, bringing the total up to 11 o.hats total from the three runs. That's pretty awesome and I'm happy I could help everyone out, even if I spent most of the time like this. I have a bad habit of not knowing when to chill on the damage when I play on my DRK... oh well, was still fun.

sup yo
Due to the complete lack of demand I have decided to start a blog that I will probably quit using in a week or two! My name's Rappa, on the Quetzalcoatl FFXI server. Up until the last week or so, I laid relatively low in the FFXI world. I moved RL and I'm basically starting my RL life anew. I work from home which gives me a somewhat decent amount of time to goof around in this silly game yet still have time to do other things when the mood suits me.
So a quick bio of Rappa. Rappa's a mithra with several high level jobs, including 75 dark knight, 75 white mage, 74 bard, and 52 beastmaster. I have only been in a few "end-game" linkshells and was most successful in the "Purpose" linkshell which I left due to personal differences with the linkshell leader. I took the time off from end-game to take care of aforementioned RL issues and to quickly level my bard up to end-game status. I have since rejoined the Element linkshell which was formed by the old Purpose members after the linkshell leader of Purpose quit the game. Upon rejoining I was surprised to see a very large number of new faces, and was glad to see my old comrades welcome me back with open arms.
After having only been back less than two weeks we have already taken down a Fafnir and a King Behemoth, which was a kill we never quite managed to get back in the older Purpose days due to steals or other stupid problems. Both of these kills were quite epic as the newer members are still a bit green in the HNM department and some silly mistakes were made, but I have a feeling it won't be long before everyone's in great form and we're slaughtering with ease.
Aside from rejoining the HNM scene, not a whole lot to report in my first post here so I'll just sum up today. First my dynamis shell had a rather impressive looting in Dynamis-Beaucedine, nabbing 13 relics and 3 100 coins in addition to getting the win for a few members that needed it. I obtained the Abyss Cuirass for my dark knight so I was pretty happy! Afterwards I did some xping with my hnm friends and managed to hit lvl 74 bard. Not bad for a day's work.
I'll go ahead and wrap it up here. Hopefully future entries will have pictures or something else to make them suck less. Oh, and I would hate to forget to mention that I'm levelling perhaps the most joked about job ever, puppetmaster, so expect to see all about my opinions and experiences with this job. Perhaps I can shed some light on it and make people see it isn't 100% crap! Hope you enjoy this and all future Rappa stories!
